Thursday Thirteen - Popular Video Games of the 80's

Hubby and our son conspired to obtain a joint birthday gift this year, since they were both having milestone birthdays (40 and 13, respectively). What was the gift? An X-Box 360. So for the past several weeks I've been listening to more video games than I care to.

Which brings us to this weeks TT. I thought back to when I was my son's age, hanging out at the the local arcade in our teeny-tiny mall. My best friend, Melanie, and I would spend hours in there - plugging in quarters and meeting boys.

So here's the 13 games that I blew the most of my allowance on...

1. Pac Man

2. Ms. Pac Man

3. Donkey Kong

4. Pole Position

5. Asteroids

6. Frogger

7. Space Invaders

8. Tron

9. Q-Bert

10. Dig Dug

11. Galaga

And I've saved my favorite 2 for last:

12. Centipede

13. Dragon's Lair

Did I leave out your favorite arcade game?

I was the QUEEN of Ms. Pacman! I liked PacMan, Frogger, and Asteroids, too. None of my favorites were left out. And from this post and its comments, we can all probably guess each other's approximate ages!

thanks for stopping by my blog.

Wow..this takes me back! My Grandmother had the pac man thumb from playing on our Atari and my mother just bought Frogger for her PC..lol. I played space invaders a lot because it was the only game in the pizza place I went to :-P

Super cool post! Asteroids!!! LOL - I remember when my big bros would go to the corner store to play that game. I love Qbert and centipede and pac man. Those were games that were simple to play. LOLOLOL - Happy TT and thanks for stopping by. I love your play list - we have the same taste in music. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, great list, mine is up at 13 Not So Famous Last Words; Most Americans die peacefully in their beds, but for those who die violently one can only guess what their final words must have been. I think that after you read these you will have to agree that they do indeed sound like they might have been the last words of those who did not go peacefully into the night.

This reminds me of when I was younger, pre-Sega Genesis era, my mom gave me my brothers' old atari and I played some of these games myself. But then I got Sega Genesis and forgot about it. :) And in response to my 13 blog, Simon Pegg is the greatest, eh? I'm dying to see his newest movie "Run, Fat Boy, Run" but am waiting until it's out on DVD. I figure anything with Simon in it is buy worthy. :)

I kind of figured Pac Man/Ms. Pac Man would be the games of choice for most - guess I was right! Glad to see some fans of the others in here, too :D

Stace,
hehe, I so remember Pac Man thumb!

Pamela,
Glad you like my music! It goes along with my 80's themed TT's ;D

Kim,
I want to see that movie, too! Simon Pegg is hilarious!

Lauren,
One of our local pizza parlors has Gallaga and I love playing when we go!
