It's a 1917 Curtiss Jenny. Turns out, this museum not only collects and restores vintage planes and cars, it believes that they should continue to be operated so that people can fully appreciate them.
See the motorcycle in the foreground? It has the same engine as the plane. Kinda scary, isn't it? I like my planes to have a little larger engine, thank-you-very-much.
Mike was impressed with these:
Can you guess what it is? No? It's a 155 mm Howitzer shell. Yeah, I didn't know what they were, either.
Cody fell in love with this car, a 1957 Studebaker. He was bugging the crap out of Mike asking if they could please, please, please buy one as a project car and fix it up. Of course, he hasn't said a word about it since we left ;) I swear, the boy has the attention span of a gnat.
Here's Mike with his favorite plane: a 1941 Ryan PT-22 Recruit Trainer. And yes, he's finally smiling in a picture. Guess what the magic word is to get both of my guys to smile for a picture? "Boobies". Like father, like son.
On to my birthday!
I was greeted this morning by this question from my son: "So? Do you feel old yet?"

He's a peach, isn't he? Who would have thought that the cute, dimpled little boy would grow up to be such a smart ass? Oh, wait. I did. Given the DNA he inherited from his father and I, it's really no surprise.
Mike had to work tonight, so my friends Kala, Jana, and Diane picked me up and we headed to dinner. There was lots of laughter, lots of food, a couple of Limoncello Lemonade's, and a few mentions of:
All in all - a very good day ;D

Well happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a fun time ;-D
The museum looks pretty cool too...a motorcycle engine in an airplane...hm...I don't think I'd want to ride in that...lol. at least it wasn't a lawnmower engine ;-P
"And other news????" How can there possibly be other news than your birthday? I mean we celebrate it as a national holiday over on this side of the lower 48! We shot off fireworks and everything! (Oh, and George stopped by, and was so disappointed you weren't here...not to worry though, I gave him a big wet one in your honor!)
Boobies, huh? My friend Kelly had her husband be a guest blogger for her on her birthday. And he wrote about why he loves her. And waxed rasphodic about her boobies - and used every euphamism I've ever heard for them - and a few I hadn't. I wonder what your hubby would have written :-)
Happy, happy birthday!
A very happy, slightly belated, birthday to you!! May you live to be 100 so I can always enjoy your blog. 8)
Oh gawd, now I'm woozy from looking at the photo of George, and I can't remember what else I was going to say (besides "I love Limoncellos!"). LOL!
Birthday hugs!!
One more comment as a belated b-day present...I left you a bloggie award on my site. Come by and check it out when you get a chance...
No wonder we like each other so much, we're both Virgo's! Go figure! Both married to Cancer guys who turned 40 about a week apart.
Birds of a feather!!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
I was popping in to let you know that I have an award for you on my site as well. I just read Topsytechies comment and apparently you get TWO awards. And we didn't even know it was your birthday. :-)
Hope it was wonderful.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Stace,
I hadn't thought of that! The motorcycle engine is plenty small enough for me ;P
Kerry,
I know, I apologize to everyone who had bank business to attend to on that day. *snort* I'm thinking next year I'm gonna come celebrate my birthday at your house!
Kat,
I could hear hubby now: "How do I love thy boobies? Let me count the ways..."
Theresa,
Love limoncellos, eh? Guess I know what we'll be sipping should we ever finally meet ;D And then we can wax poetic about George's perfect squinty eyes. *Sighhhh*
Kimberly,
No wonder we're so much alike!! My friend Joan is a Virgo with a Cancer husband as well. Must be a good match ;D
Lori and Kerry,
I'm off to get my awards. Thanks guys!
