Hey - we'll be paying for his therapy anyway...

might as well get our money's worth!

As some of you may remember (or not - I won't hold it against you!), last year for my birthday we headed to the coast and in one of the many candy stores, I stumbled upon one of my childhood favorites - candy cigarettes.
Candy Cigarettes Pictures, Images and Photos

We didn't find any again until yesterday, when hubby and I had almost five (count 'em - 5!) hours to ourselves while the kid was at rehearsal and then at the movies with a friend. We took advantage of our grown-up time and headed to lunch. The place where we ate sold "old fashioned" candy including, you guessed it - candy cigarettes!

After lunch we bought 4 packs, er, boxes and headed on our way. They sat in my purse until this afternoon when hubby could hold out no longer. I told him I thought it would be funny if we messed with our kids' head a little. He agreed. After all, parents have to get their kicks where they can, right?

He called Cody into the kitchen and held up one of the boxes and asked him if he knew what it was. He then informed Cody that since he was at that age where kids experimented with such things, they were going to go out on the back deck and finish them together. All the while I'm trying desperately to suppress the giggles that are rising, while our son is insisting that I've already talked to him about smoking and he doesn't want to go smoke with his dad! At this point, hubby got the giggles. I announced that if he *did* choose to imbibe in cigarettes, these would be the only kind that would be acceptable, then turned around with a candy cigarette hanging out of my mouth. As a look of relief washed over his face, he laughed and there was some mention made of his father and I being freaks.

That may be true, but he has our DNA, so I guess the jokes on him...again. ;D

Makita,
Ah, the ways we will mess with our kids to amuse ourselves ;D I highly recommend you try this little bit if you get the chance *snicker*

Emma,
Oh, don't feel sorry for him! He can give as good as he gets - trust me ;D

I can't wait for the write up! All weekend long I've been talking about you being there. I'm sure hubby is wishing I'd shut up already!

Glad I could be part of your mantra. God help them if we ever manage to make it to a con together! There will be no stopping us - MUAHAHAHA!

I can just hear Cody muttering "those rotten kids" to himself as he walked off shaking his head at his parents. ;D

I do miss those candy cigs myself. Now I'm going to have to search for them next time we're in one of those candy stores.

I remember those candy cigarettes. We also had candy pills...in the psychodelic '60's. I wonder if there is any candy crack, for all the current addicts? :-)

This is awesome. I LOVE it!!! You seriously just made my day with that one. :-D

My oldest daughter is fond of saying, "Who IS the mom, anyway?!"

I can't imagine why she'd ever feel the need to say that...

hello, only me...i haven't forgotton my duties in informing the masses of the SGA convention activities from a week ago, but forces have prevented me from doing pretty much anything constructive this week....I am still fighting off a brain full of snot which makes any kind of 'writey stuff' impossible and my lap top, with all my con pics onboard, is recieving some emergency treatment, hopefully pulling in back from the brink of extinction...as soon as both ailments have moved on to other schmucks I WILL finish what I started....promise!

That's hilarious! I can just picture the scene. And, I definitely think your son is a lucky guy.
