Well, it's a new year and what turned out to be a very quiet holiday season is now over. As I sit here looking over my calendar book (yes, book. No Palm Pilot, iPhone, or Blackberry for me. I like actual pens and paper.) I am struck by the fact that I am now going to have to schedule some down time. If I can even find any down time. The biggest addition to our calendar?? Cody's play. 10 days ago he auditioned for a local production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest". He ended up with the part of Sebastian - a much bigger part than what he'd auditioned for, but he's thrilled. Know why? Because his buddy is playing his buddy in the play. AND they both get to be bad guys. AND they both get to die! He's so excited!! Boys are weird ;P
Going by the schedule that they've given us (and I know it's going to be added to), he has about 60 hours of rehearsals in the next 2 months. This will be on top of the other things already on the calendar, plus any free time with his friends, family activities - you get the picture. Did I mention that our first "real" vacation is next month? How about my dad's plans on coming out to visit for his vacation, too. Did I mention that yet? And just to make sure that I completely lose it, I've started doing the Weight Watchers Points diet. Because our vacation will involve me wearing a bathing suit. In public. I know...it horrifies me, too. There isn't enough self-tanner in Portland to get the glare off these white legs. I can only hope that reducing their size might save some poor islander's retinas.
What's next? Self flagellation??
maybe...

Congrats to Cody for getting the part!
Enjoy lots of ready time while he's at practice! LOL
Where are you going for vacation? or is it top secret?
Yay Cody! Poor you. I hate it when my schedule gets that crowded and constricted, I like having buffer time so if something comes up I have the choice to do it or not.
Where are you going on Vacation?? Someplace warm sounds so good right now...
Congrats to Cody...break a leg and all that.
Oooo, holiday, where ya goin'...a island huh?...lemme guess the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Isle of Dogs...erm perhaps not....I'd love to live on an island...oh wait ;-)
Woohoo, Cody!! We loved that play (almost as much as we loved As You Like It).
I'm a paper-planner gal too. My sis tried to convince me to use a Palm Pilot, but I don't want to have to learn anything else new electronically.
Oh man, you are going to be super, super busy, aren't you? I'll think of you when I'm sitting in the house until 2pm in my jammies (like I am today). ;) Actually, JK because our schedule will be kicked into high gear come next week too, but nuthin' like yours.
I like my paper calendar, too. My husband keeps trying to get me to use the gmail calendar...but it drives me nuts. And I can't carry it with me. So I end up having to keep track of three calendars. One that I carry. The one in my kitchen. And the stupid gmail one. Ugh. And I am sure you can imagine...they all have parts of our lives on them. But not everything.
And where are you going on vacation??
If you get a chance I left you something on my blog :-)
I'm having those 'suffocating under the weight of my schedule' pangs currently as well. But I'm betting that upcoming vacay is going to make EVERYTHING better!
Your music freaked me out. I start reading, the house is silent, then...wait, what's that? Did I hear faint music? I think it is coming from my computer. But, I don't have iTunes or anything up. Has my computer got a mind of its own? Then, as the music gets louder and continues, I remember! It's your blog.
I guess I normally have the mute on at night.
Wow, you sound so so busy. I feel that same way, now that I have graduated. I'm not sure how I got anything done before.
And I think I am a member of the white legs club, also. I actually broke out the pasty whites (legs) to go to the gym the other day. Reflectors, for sure.
To, well, everybody ;)
We are heading to Hawaii. Oahu to be specific. We'd all have preferred the big island, but having given birth to a walking, talking WWII encyclopedia, we couldn't make the trip without heading to Pearl Harbor.
Thanks for all your congrats to Cody. He's had 3 rehearsals so far and is having a blast.
Ruth, sorry my music freaked you out. Maybe I need to post a warning at the top of my blog ;)
Take me with you, pleeeeease?! :>
Hawaii....*tries to think of appropriate Hawaii Five-0/ Magnum P.I pun...gets distracted as mind wanders to Tony Dinozzo in a Hawaiian shirt*.....very cool, or hot I guess.....I'm not jealous, nope not one little tiny bit...why would surf central appeal to me when I'm smoozing with the stars in a little under two weeks ;-)
