Geeky Blog Friends are AWESOME!!

OK, I had a whole Mardi Gras post nearly finished when I decided to pop on over to my friend Emma's blog. She's a big ol' sci-fi geek like myself, and she's spent the last couple of weeks blogging about her adventures at the Wolf Pegasus 4 convention in London last month. For those of you who aren't geeks (or are only semi-geeky ;) this con is for Stargate-Atlantis, which ended its 5 year run with its 100th episode last month.

Stargate Atlantis Pictures, Images and Photos

So, I popped on over there and read her post entitled "Lost Property". (Please go read it. C'mon - I asked nicely!) I immediately started writing a smart-ass comment about how it's mine - 'cause I wanted it, and that she could just pop it in the mail to me. I then took the time to go back and actually look at the photo. And realized, by God, that the autographs are all TO ME!!! That's right, my bloggy friend across the pond had everyone at the Con sign it for me! And (this is a big "and") she even had them spell my name correctly. Which almost never happens.

Know what happened next? I squealed. Loudly. And woke my poor hubby in a not-very-nice-way as he was snoozing on the couch next to me. And then my kid ran in from the other room to see what all the screaming was about.

After I stopped making noises that were, well, indescribable and ear splitting, I was able to let my guys know who all had signed it. Cody wanted to know how come he didn't get one. I told him that my friends love me more! I know, I sound horrible. Maybe I'll be nice enough to bring him back an autographed photo when *I* go! (snort)

No worries, you are very welcome....I think I heard some residual sqealing, well it was that or trapped wind ;-)

I actually had a guess at the spelling but if all else had failed I was going to go with Firefly mom hehe.

It was good fun getting it as I was explaining to the guests....'It's not for me but a friend who's a big fan but couldn't make it....no she's not ill she just lives too far away,....oh I've never met her, but she reads my blog...web log, like a diary online....etc.

Lots of confused looks and snarky comments...one from Kavan after I said she's not got an ifliction (for some reason that was all the guests first reaction) she just lives in Oregon....quick as you like he says 'I wouldn't be so sure about that, have you been to Oregon' lol...cheeky bugger.

Kerry,
Yes, a kudos to Emma (this is me, raising my Margarita glass in a toast ;)

Emma,
I don't doubt that you heard my squealing. As I said, it was very loud! And which one of those sci-fi people didn't know what a blog was?? I mean, is there *anyone* under the age of 60 who doesn't know what they are??

Et tu, Kavan? Cheeky bugger indeed!

Kimberly,
Yep, I'm already planning the perfect spot for it. Above the fireplace with appropriate spotlighting, maybe ;D

Makita,
Thanks! It is very cool indeed!

Stace,
Yes, I haven't squealed like that since I was a little girl. In fact, I think I may have pulled a muscle I forgot I had ;P

Lori,
Thanks! You mentioned the whole Joss thing on Emma's blog - forget not getting an autograph for me! You didn't get one for yourself!!! My hubby heard *all* about it that night ;D I told him that should we ever run into him together, I'm gonna grab your hand and drag you up to him!

OMG! What a great friend and gift! We go to Dragon*Con in Atlanta every year. DH, DD and I are all HUGE SG-1 SG-A fans. DD got the *entire* boxed set of SG-1 for Christmas '07...that was the present she went the most bonkers over. Grandparents (who gave it to her) didn't understand but enjoyed her reaction! LOL
Check out my blog, from Sept. 07 and 08 you'll see some pix from D*C.

Awesome, awesome gift! :-)
