Until today, that is. Today Mike and Carol arrived. They're my favorite part of spring :D
When your teenage son has a friend come to stay for 2 nights, you have to stop and ask: "Whatever will we do with them?"
This was the boys on Friday night. Why, oh why, didn't we tape their mouths??
You'd have thought we would have figured it out by the next day, but no, we forgot then, too.
On Saturday hubby broke out the heavy duty 8 inch wide industrial tape. First victim was Jason, who fought bravely, but was no match for Sasquatch. After he was all taped up, hubby went after bubba...
He fought a little harder, but still wasn't much of a match.
Afterwards, we taped the two of them together and they (tried) to make a made dash down the hall.
Squirm, little men, squirm!!!
Lest you think that we're horrible people, I should point out that hubby had to hide the tape from them so they wouldn't get into again ;) And this was actually one of the calmer activities of the day, if you count the airsoft battle in the backyard (which left hubby bleeding) and the wrestling match after dinner where both boys tried to take down hubby (and failed, as usual :)
We finished off the night celebrating "Earth Hour". For those few who may not have heard of it (they were hoping to reach 1 billion people this year), here's a quick little video about it:
We spent our hour playing board games by candlelight (and I was wishing that I'd had the good sense to use the bathroom prior to lights out ;)
So how about you? Enjoying your spring? Torment your (or somebody else's) kids lately? Celebrate Earth Hour??

HAHAHA...good 'ol fashion family fun...I particular liked the 'This is going on my blog' followed by Dr. Evil type laugh...were you a Bond villian in a previous life ;-)
That is so funny, I forgot to use the bathroom before Lights Out too!
We will be at a birthday party for a nine-year-old friend today, fifteen kids and pouring rain. I think I'm going to bring over a couple rolls of tape :-)
Karen
Did you see the duct tape pictures on my blog? http://bloggingboutboys.blogspot.com/2009/03/duct-tape.html
I think our kids would get along just fine!
Jenny
I am SO mad that we were away from the house and didn't even get a chance to celebrate Earth Hour. I think we might just recreate it for the heck of it. Think that's allowed?! ;) Cody and his buddy crack me up. Who THINKS of this stuff...I must know!!
I so forgot about Earth hour until this morning and I read an article about it in the paper. Oh well.
And we have some pink tape. For ummm...nevermind...
My husband was looking over my shoulder that night when I was on Facebook and your status said you were duct taping your kid. I assured him you were most likely serious and it was most likely a lot of fun, not to worry. Glad to see I was correct!
Emma,
Yes, that's me! The evil Bond villian, sitting and stroking my duck (I don't have a cat ;)
My guys have become *very* used to me saying "This is going on the blog!"
Karen,
Glad to know I'm not the *only* one who forgot to go before lights out ;)
And I ALWAYS recommend having duct tape on hand!
Jennifer,
Our kids may get along alright - but I fear they may gang up on us and use the duct tape against us ;D
Kerry,
I hereby give you permission to celebrate Earth Hour whenever you want (yes, I have that power ;)
Who thinks of this stuff? Hubby and I are pretty much on the same page as far as scheming goes.
Our poor kid doesn't stand a chance ;D
Kat,
First: I really, *really* want to know what you use the pink tape for ;D
Second: where can I get my own pink tape??
Lori,
Yes, please assure your hubby that we're not taping him up while we go out and party. Tell him to try taping a kid or two up. He might like it ;D
